Sofia Zu’bi was born in Newport Beach, California in 1993 to an American mother and Jordanian father. Sofia majors in painting at Pratt Institute of Design. She has featured exhibitions in both the United States and the Middle East. She currently works and lives in New York.
Sofia found her passion of painting at an early age. Her paintings are both personal and symbolic, inspired by actual experiences and dreams. Sofia paints a magical dreamland where the characters are tested through love, power, and decisions. The Princess is a central figure within her work used as a metaphor of innocence and vulnerability. The characters are engaged in an endless circular conflict, constantly swaying between power and powerlessness, and love and deceit. Her work mirrors human perseverance, as the Princess understands life’s harmful disguises as well as its mystical beauty.
