I grew up in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA and began creating art at a very young age. In fact, it was my nanny, Agnus, who first had the inclination that I would grow up to be an artist. She told my parents that I had the natural knack for color and innate artistic talent. Throughout my childhood and formative years, I learned the fundamentals of painting at an afterschool art studio and there, I fell in love with art from observation. I further developed my body of work at the College of William and Mary where I studied Studio Art and Latin American Studies. Now, I live in Williamsburg, splitting my time between creating art and serving teens with special needs through a ministry called Capernaum.

The simple, but inspiring children’s story, Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson, played a defining role in my development as an artist. While Harold lived in a black and white world, he colored in purple. With just one crayon Harold turned the mundane into a grand adventure. I identify with Harold’s zest for life, and through my artwork I strive to illuminate a depth and beauty of life that may otherwise go unnoticed. I hope the moments captured in my work, encourage you to pause and consider the nuance of beauty found in our world.
